Plant Organelle Technologies (POT)

Plant Organelle Technologies (POT) has developed a novel and proprietary approach to edit and express genes at high levels in organelles, both chloroplasts and mitochondria, in a way that quickly generates homoplasmy – that is every organelle of a cell or plant contains the desired gene or edit.  The approach delivers high-level, compartmentalised expression enabling reduced transgene phytotoxicity, easier backcrossing and trait stacking, efficient containment and an easier regulatory route.  The potential applications include enhanced yield, pest and disease resistance, CMS for hybrid crop production and the possibility of introducing food traits, all with a significant 'carbon gain'.
