Sophie Throup
Sophie joined Myton Food Group in July 2023 as Technical and Sustainability Director, leading.
Myton has 19 sites across the UK and manufactures for a number of retail, food service and wholesale customers, including Morrisons, whom Sophie joined in November 2017 as Head of Agriculture, following 10 years in the veterinary sector running research and training programmes.
Sophie’s experience also includes being a non-exec director for AFS (Red Tractor) until March 2025, a steering committee member for the Food Industry Initiative on Antimicrobials and was part of Defra’s Animal Health and Welfare Pathway sub-group on legislation.
She also was a key in setting up the School of Sustainable Food and Farming at Harper Adams University, to help shape research, training and innovative support for current and future farmers on the path to net zero and sustainable farming. At home, she lives with her dairy farmer husband, and three children, two of whom work on the farm and one who is studying for a degree apprenticeship at Morrisons.
