James Green
James is Group Director of Agriculture at G’s, one of Europe’s leading producers of salads and vegetables. He is passionate about driving meaningful change in the agricultural sector, which he believes is entering a golden age of innovation. James is committed to advancing regenerative farming practices and leveraging Industry 4.0 technologies such as data science, AI, robotics and autonomous systems to address the global challenge of feeding an ever-growing population sustainably.
With a strong background in finance and extensive experience in agriculture, James is focused on measuring and enhancing the value G’s brings across three critical areas: profit, planet, and people. He led G’s programme to achieve SBTi validated GHG emission reduction targets in 2024. James was appointed Group Director of Agriculture at G’s in 2019, one of Europe’s leading producers of salads and vegetables. He is passionate about driving meaningful change in the agricultural sector committed to advancing regenerative farming practices and leveraging Industry 4.0 technologies such as big data, AI, robotics, controlled environments, biotech, and autonomous systems to address the global challenge of feeding an ever-growing population sustainably.
With a strong background in finance and extensive experience in agriculture, James is focused on measuring and enhancing the value G’s brings across three critical areas: profit, planet, and people. He led G’s programme to achieve SBTi validated GHG emission reduction targets in 2024.
Prior to his current role, James served as the Group CFO for five years, following a nine-year tenure as the UK Commercial Finance Director. James holds a degree in Agricultural Science and German from the University of Nottingham. He began his career at Deloitte, where he earned his professional qualifications in both audit assurance and corporate finance. Throughout his career, he has applied a commercially focused mindset to finance and has played a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the businesses he’s worked with.
Earlier in his career, James managed several European operations, primarily in the broad-acre agricultural commodity sector, and led multicultural teams in diverse locations, including a dairy farming business in Germany and a cotton farming operation in Tanzania.
